Waikiki Tan was founded by Dan Loofe II, a lifelong Siouxland residend. We opened our first store on December 7, 2004 in Sioux City Ia on Pearl Harbor Day. Mr. Loofe got the idea for the name of the business while surfing on Waikiki Beach, in Hawaii. "My experiances in Hawaii with the incredible scenery, super friendly natives, and killer waves gave me the idea to bring a little piece of paradise back to the midwest".

Mr. Loofe spent 13 years in managment at Gateway Computer company before opening Waikiki Tan. He managed the Small/Medium Business division with annual sales of over 100 Million. Mr. Loofe was one of the top managers for Gateway winning many awards and accolades throughout his career. Gateway was a great learning experiance for him and taught him all the neccesary things he would need to market and run his own business. Most importantly, how to take great care of customers. Without great service no business can succeed. This is, and will always remain the main goal of Waikiki Tan. Extreamly satisfied customers.

The initial success of Waikiki Tan has been incredible. In our first full year of operations, we have added over 150 brand new customers each and every month bringing our current customer base up to over 1800 regular tanners. 65% of our new customers are referred by friends or family members. Which tells us you’re happy with our service. The Morningside College cheerleader teams also chose us as their -Official Tanning Salon- this year. Over 18% of the entire Morningside College student body tans at Waikiki Tan. Waikiki Tan also provides free Sioux City Journal newspapers to students in the Dorms throughout the school year as a way to say thanks for the support. Go Mustangs.

We will always meet or beat anyone’s advertised prices. So don’t be fooled by the other guys “limited time” offer to get you in their door. They will just increase the price later to make it up. We put the customer first and foremost every day, not just for special promotions and we are the only salon in town that doesnt expire your minute packages after 1 year. You paid for your minutes, why should they expire?

2006 looks to be a promising year with the opening of our second store on the citys North Side. Tenatively named Waikiki Tan, "North Shore". We will also be working to open franchise stores in the Omaha, Lincoln, Des Moines, and Sioux Falls areas in 2006.

In addition we plan on having some great give-aways/promotions in 2006. Including vacation giveaways to Honolulu HI.
